Heavy- Jets are optimal for transcontinental and international flights. Heavy-Jets have an average cruising speed of over 530mph with average ranges of 3400 miles (long-range heavy jets are the GV and the Global Express that allow for up to 8000 miles). Some popular heavy jets are the Gulfstream II, III, IV or V variants, Cessna Sovereign and Columbus, Bombardier Challenger series, and Global Express aircraft.
Mid-size Jets
A Mid-size- Jet aircraft are categorized as the best overall value for executive jet travel. Mid-size business jets can carry up 8 passengers depending upon cabin size and seat configurations. Mid-size jets boast ranges of up to 2200 miles. Some of the more common mid-sized jets are the Learjet 60A, Hawker 800A and XP variants, and the Citation Excel.
Very Light Jets (VLJ’s)
VLJ’s are the next generation of executive jet aircraft. Because of their next generation technology and highly efficient fuel consumption, VLJ’s are categorized as “GREEN” aircraft and carry up to 5 passengers. VLJ’s rival the performance of slower turboprop aircraft with speeds of 390 miles per hour on average and a range of up to 1000 miles. Some of the VLJ aircraft models include the Cessna Mustang, Embraer Phenom 100, and Eclipse Jet series.
